About Star Island

Star Island is a seasonal retreat and conference destination in the Isles of Shoals, off the New Hampshire and Maine coast, reached by passenger boat from Portsmouth or Rye. Its historic island village includes the Oceanic Hotel, cottages, other guest buildings, meeting spaces, and Gosport Chapel, a stone meetinghouse built in 1800. Personal accounts on the site describe weddings in the chapel. The island has indoor gathering areas, including Elliott meeting room and the Oceanic dining hall, as well as outdoor areas such as the front lawn and ocean-facing grounds. Overnight stays are offered in the Oceanic Hotel, Gosport Building, cottages, and separate motel-style units. Seasonal conference programs include meals and activities such as tennis, softball, rowing, and swimming; personal retreats are also offered.
