The Museum of Arts and Design occupies the Jerome and Simona Chazen Building, a 54,000-square-foot home at 2 Columbus Circle in Manhattan, with a textured façade of glazed terra-cotta tile and fritted glass. Its rentable spaces include a seventh-floor open plan with floor-to-ceiling Central Park views, suited to press events, presentations, cocktail parties and dinners, with capacities of 85 for a seated dinner, 120 in theater-style seating, and 150 for a cocktail reception. The Theater at MAD is fully restored to its mid-century design, with a gold lamé ceiling, bronze doors and walnut-paneled walls. It seats 143 guests and offers DCP, 35mm, 16mm, optical media and legacy video projection with surround sound, wired and wireless microphones, and laptop and auxiliary inputs. Its lobby can host private events for up to 60 guests. The glass-enclosed Barbara Tober Grand Atrium on the ground level, with a suspended grand staircase, accommodates 110 for cocktails and is not a private space. Catering is provided by Ark Restaurants Corp. and audiovisual services by Park Boulevard Productions, and private gallery access and guided tours can be arranged for an additional fee. The building is accessible by elevator on all floors, and wheelchair-accessible seating is available for events.
