About Historical Society of Baltimore County

The Historical Society of Baltimore County occupies the Historic Almshouse at 9811 Van Buren Lane in Cockeysville, Maryland. The limestone building was completed in 1872 as the county's third and last almshouse, and the Society has been headquartered there since 1959. The site holds a research library with more than 4,300 shelved volumes and 10,500 photographs, a second-floor exhibit space, and a farm and agriculture museum in the barn beside the building. The Almshouse also contains the Galloway Room, a meeting and reception space available to outside groups.

Galloway Room rental: $100 per hour for one-time private events, with a half hour of setup and a half hour of cleanup included at no charge. Regularly recurring community-group meetings pay $100 for up to two hours outside HSBC business hours, or $40 for up to three hours during HSBC business hours.
