About Framingham History Center

Village Hall on the Common, at 2 Oak Street in Framingham Centre, is a Greek Revival building designed by Solomon Willard and Dexter Hemenway and built in 1834. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and anchors the Centre Common, a tree-lined historic green with museums, churches and homes nearby. A handsome granite-balustraded terrace, added in 1913, connects the building to the Common. A 1916–17 renovation removed the ballroom ceiling to expose the original oak trusses and added a stage and dressing rooms. The building is now an event venue with modern conveniences and is available for rent through a rental coordinator. Recent community use includes the Framingham Garden Club's two-day flower show in September 2026, and the History Center's annual gala is scheduled there for December 5, 2026, with live music, dancing, a bar and an Italian dinner. Guests reach the hall from the Village Hall parking lot off Oak Street, just ahead of the Common.
