About The Old Manse

The Old Manse is a Georgian clapboard house built in 1770 on the banks of the Concord River in Concord, Massachusetts, on a property of about nine acres. Its upstairs overlooks North Bridge, where the battle of April 19, 1775 took place, and the house is a National Historic Landmark. Rolling fields edged by centuries-old stone walls surround the house, and footpaths lead from the grounds to North Bridge and to a stone boathouse on the river. The heirloom apple orchard and riverfront are available for wedding ceremonies only, for 50 people or fewer, held after 5pm. Ceremonies are not held indoors. Visitors can join guided tours of the house, which cover its revolutionary-era history and the women who lived there, or walk the grounds daily from dawn to dusk. A specialty bookstore operates during house hours.
