About Vesper Hill Children's Chapel

Vesper Hill Children's Chapel is a non-denominational outdoor chapel in Rockport, Maine, set between the town's harbor and the fields of Aldermere Farms. The chapel seats 50 people and is suited to weddings, baptisms and memorials, and it is also open to the public for quiet reflection, prayer, meditation, drawing and painting. The grounds include a formal garden with annuals, perennials, herbs and a variety of trees, along with a spacious lawn for picnicking. Part of the stone foundation of the Tamarack Lodge, a hotel that burned in 1954 on the same site, has been incorporated into the gardens. The chapel was built in 1960 by Helene Bok.
