The Kohl Pumphouse is a historic late-19th-century structure in San Mateo Central Park, about 100 yards north of the Palm Avenue entrance, 100 yards from El Camino Real and 200 yards from 5th Avenue. It was built to house the pump for the Kohl estate that later became Central Park. The pumphouse is rented together with the Victorian Garden that surrounds it, a setting described as an attractive and comfortable venue for small to medium gatherings. The indoor pumphouse holds up to 45 people and the garden up to 55, for a maximum of 100 guests. The garden is lit throughout, so evening events are possible. Furnishings include 46 folding chairs, garden benches, banquet and round tables with linens, and a small kitchen with a sink, refrigerator/freezer, oven, range and microwave. Bookings require a signed contract and a security deposit. Set-up, teardown and deliveries must take place within the rental period.
