About Plaza de la Constitución

Plaza de la Constitución sits at the center of historic downtown St. Augustine, between King and Cathedral streets and facing the Bridge of Lions. Spanish royal ordinances laid out the plaza in 1573, and the town plan and plaza were designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970. Large cannons surround the plaza, which is bordered by the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, Trinity Episcopal Church and the Government House. The plaza's central gazebo is its event structure. Local and regional musicians perform there in the weekly summer concert series, and the city accepts requests to use the gazebo stage for concerts, presentations, ceremonies and weddings.
