About Palais Royale

The Palais Royale is a historic ballroom in downtown South Bend, designed with the Morris Performing Arts Center and opened in 1922. Its 8,800-square-foot ballroom features polished hardwood floors, a 35-foot ceiling, an ornate chandelier, tall windows and an original musicians’ balcony. The ballroom hosts sit-down weddings and receptions, with capacity listed as up to 650 guests on the venue page; the FAQ gives a different maximum of 500 for a seated dinner and 850 for a cocktail reception. Wedding options across the complex include the Palais Royale Ballroom, the Morris/Leighton Theater stage, the Morris Grand Lobby, Jon R. Hunt Plaza, and spaces in the Raclin Murphy Encore Center. The theater stage accommodates up to 175 for weddings, banquets or meetings; the Grand Lobby accommodates cocktail receptions up to 500 or banquets up to 125. The Encore Center’s first- and second-floor lobbies each accommodate up to 200 for reception-style events, while its Lounge accommodates up to 40 and has a built-in bar and private patio overlooking the plaza. The Equity in the Arts Event Center accommodates up to 50 and includes AV equipment and a kitchenette. Navarre Hospitality provides catering, custom menus and wedding packages, with plated and buffet options and hosted or cash bar service. The venue lists dressing rooms, AV support and a planner on staff. Additional practical details include nearby public parking, a Bride’s Room/Multi-Purpose Room for getting ready, a five-hour facility use period with extra time available for purchase, noise monitoring, and use until 1 a.m. unless otherwise arranged. The DoubleTree by Hilton is across the street.
