About Old Capitol Museum

Set on the University of Iowa’s Pentacrest, Old Capitol Museum offers wedding ceremonies in its historic Senate Chamber and receptions in its rotunda spaces. The Senate Chamber ceremony option accommodates more than 50 guests, up to 165, and includes event staff, planning support, rehearsal access, audiovisual equipment and private access to the House Chamber for the wedding party. Receptions are designed for 75 or fewer guests, typically in a standing cocktail-style arrangement, with limited seated dining available on request. Reception rentals include tables, cocktail rounds, banquet chairs, a small dance floor and event staffing; catering is arranged separately through University Catering. Weddings and private receptions generally take place outside regular museum hours, and ceremonies are permitted inside the museum only.
