About Olaf Wieghorst Museum

Located in downtown El Cajon, California, at 131 Rea Avenue, the Olaf Wieghorst Museum and Western Heritage Center celebrates the heritage of the American West through the art of the Danish-American painter Olaf Wieghorst. The main museum building contains a forward gallery, a main gallery and a gift shop, where the artist's work is shown year round alongside a rotating selection of art shows and docent-led tours. The grounds also include Olaf's historic home, moved to the site and fully restored, and the Olaf Wieghorst Botanical Garden, a curated public garden of more than 700 species of cacti, succulents, palms and cycads, with horse sculptures set among the trees. The museum keeps a small, multipurpose event space among its exhibits, suited to meetings, receptions, news conferences, award ceremonies and small outdoor events. It also presents tours, workshops, classes, exhibitions and events.
