About Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience
The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience is located at 818 Howard Avenue in New Orleans' Arts District. It is open six days a week from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed on Tuesdays. The museum has about 9,000 square feet of permanent exhibition space and rents several of its spaces for private events of all sizes, including corporate events, family reunions, simchas, Shabbat dinners and receptions. Event options include an after-hours buyout of the entire museum (event hall and exhibits) from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, an after-hours package limited to the exhibit galleries and Museum Store, and a daytime rental of Dora Ferber Hall, a second-floor event hall. The event hall can be set cocktail-style for up to 125 guests or seated for up to 60. The exhibit galleries accommodate up to 250 guests during after-hours packages. Packages can include a full event hall for a self-catered meal, party, reunion or reception, with tables, chairs, a projector, WiFi, and a speaker with two wireless microphones. Food and drink are not permitted in the exhibit galleries, and outside catering is not allowed in the exhibits-only package. Parking is not included in any package. Metered on-street parking is available on Howard Avenue and Carondelet Street, and the building is on the St. Charles and Canal streetcar lines. The main entrance is at ground level and step-free, with a wheelchair-height front desk and large-print information in the lobby. The events team will build custom packages around specific needs, and an inquiry is not a binding booking until availability is confirmed.
