About American Jazz Museum

The American Jazz Museum sits in Kansas City's Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District, a 72,000-square-foot cultural complex opened in 1997 that includes exhibits, films, a working jazz club and a theater. Event spaces include the Gem Theater, a restored 500-seat performance hall beside the museum with a full stage, sound and lighting; the Blue Room, a nightclub-style jazz room with a stage, built-in sound system and full-service bar; and the Atrium with adjoining conference rooms, which seats up to 250 for dinner rounds or 300 for cocktail setups. Receptions, ceremonies and presentations are among the event types offered, and the complex accommodates gatherings from 25 to 500 guests. The Atrium has a flexible catering policy with an onsite prep kitchen and custom drink packages, while the Blue Room allows drinks but not food. An outdoor Jay McShann Pavilion suits summer cocktails and music.
