Venue IQ

Touring, comparing, signing, and the date you think you have.

Venue IQ is for the one doing the tours. The venue has done this hundreds of times. You have done it never. These questions close that gap before the deposit does.

The 10 questions

  • The cheaper venue — Two first lines, two venues. One of them is fooling you. Maybe both.
  • The date is the date — The venue said “looks good!” on the phone. The cardstock is gorgeous and it’s right there.
  • A hold is a hold — The venue put a courtesy hold on your date. You stopped looking. Nine days later you call with the deposit.
  • “We seat two hundred” — Your list is one hundred and ninety. Slide to how much of a room’s legal maximum is actually comfortable.
  • “For the day” — The florist wants in at nine. The venue’s access window starts at two. The contract says you have it for the day.
  • The music stops at eight — Outdoor reception, band booked until midnight. Did anyone ask when amplified music has to stop?
  • “Includes a coordinator” — The package comes with a venue coordinator. You cross “planner” off the list.
  • If the date has to move — Before you sign: what happens to the deposit if you have to move the wedding to next year?
  • Tuesday at eleven — The only tour slot is a weekday morning. Your wedding is a Saturday at five.
  • The bar down the hall — The dance floor is in the ballroom. The bar is in the lounge down the hallway. The DJ has a question.

Every Venue IQ question is pre-written: Belle asks, you answer, she tells you the truth about the answer you picked, and the careful version waits on Boards. Your ladder here is your own; a subject becomes its own IQ at 3 questions.
