USS Midway Museum

Wedding venue in San Diego, California

About USS Midway Museum

The USS Midway Museum occupies the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CV-41) on the downtown San Diego waterfront. Commissioned in 1945 and decommissioned in San Diego in 1992, the ship opened as a museum in June 2004, and its decks are used for public exhibits as well as private events. Evening events run from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and include receptions, galas and dinners, military balls, corporate, nonprofit and social celebrations, and press events. Organizers can build themed experiences such as a USO or 'Top Gun' style party, a 1940s big band soiree, or an awards dinner at sunset. A cocktail reception on the Flight Deck can move to a dinner on the Hangar Deck when a more temperate setting is preferred. Daytime programs include breakfasts and luncheons, small board meetings in restored aviation meeting rooms below the Flight Deck, high school band and choir performances on the bow, and Scout award ceremonies. Military ceremonies, including enlistment, promotion, commissioning, change of command, graduation, retirement, reunion and memorial ceremonies, are held on the Flight Deck Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
