About The Wedding Bowl

The Wedding Bowl is an outdoor ceremony site in Cuvier Park, a public shoreline park on Coast Boulevard in La Jolla, San Diego. The park overlooks the Pacific Ocean, and the site is used for small, intimate ceremonies of up to 40 people. Receptions are not permitted at the site, so the ceremony is the only event held there. Any event in the park, including an elopement with no guests, requires a City of San Diego park permit. Only one permit is issued per day for the site. A wedding ceremony permit covers up to four hours, including setup and breakdown, within permitted hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. City park permits open up to one year in advance, or for available dates on the first working Monday of a month. When more than one party requests the same date, names are entered into a lottery. The site has no restrooms, no electrical outlets, and no shade or water fountains. Amplified music, generators, glass containers, alcohol, and smoking are not permitted. The nearest public restroom is about a five-minute walk north at the Children's Pool area. Because the park is public, a permit does not give the wedding party the right to ask other visitors to leave. Street parking nearby is limited to two hours until 6:00 pm, except on Sundays.
