About The Frelinghuysen Arboretum

The Frelinghuysen Arboretum is a 127-acre public garden at 353 East Hanover Avenue in Morris Township, New Jersey, on the former Whippany Farm estate of the Frelinghuysen family. The Colonial Revival summer home and carriage house were designed by Rotch & Tilden of Boston. The grounds include an expansive Great Lawn in front of the mansion, a Knot Garden and Rose Garden beside it with a fountain and gazebo, a Fern Garden and Shade Garden with seating, and a marsh meadow where a combined gazebo and deck overlooks the water. Outdoor garden areas and tent locations are offered for photographs, ceremonies, weddings, corporate events, and family functions, and indoor facilities are also available to rent. The Haggerty Education Center contains a multi-purpose auditorium and two classrooms.
