About Schreiner Mansion

The Schreiner Mansion is a historic site on Earl Garrett in downtown Kerrville, Texas. Built in 1879 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was designed by Alfred Giles and constructed in three phases, reaching completion in 1897. The original six-bedroom, two-story home was built of limestone by German masons and was the first limestone home in Kerrville. The house combines Romanesque Revival and Chateauesque styling, and it retains several original gas fixtures, mantels and first-floor parquet floors. The mansion overlooks Peterson Plaza and is available for special event rentals. The $25,000 rental includes the Events at Water Street space in the historic Schreiner Building, and two hours of complimentary photography are included with any event. Guided tours of the mansion are offered on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Cailloux Foundation, which is dedicated to charitable causes in Kerrville and surrounding communities, holds the property and continues to repair and improve the building. The second floor has been made accessible to visitors who cannot use the stairs.
