About Powell Gardens

Powell Gardens offers indoor and outdoor settings for weddings, ceremonies, receptions, vow renewals and other private events amid its botanical gardens and prairie landscape. Ceremony options include the glass-walled Marjorie Powell Allen Chapel, which seats up to 120 and accommodates up to 140 for private events; the Fountain Garden; the Conservatory; and the Marlese Lowe Gourley Island Garden. Reception spaces include the Visitor Center’s Grand Hall, Conifer Room and Terrace Room, as well as the Conservatory, Fountain Garden, Chapel Study and open-sided Missouri Barn. The Chapel Study also serves as a wedding party ready room. Wedding formats range from proposals and elopements to minimony, micro-wedding and ceremony-and-reception packages. Private Events staff handle rental agreements and payments, bar setup and staffing, event security, and a facility liaison for existing AV. The venue offers approved caterers and bar service; outside alcohol is not permitted. Clients arrange their own vendors and decorations, which require approval and must be installed and removed within rental time. Events are held rain or shine.
