John A. Walker Community Center

About John A. Walker Community Center

The John A. Walker Community Center on the Wilkes Community College campus offers two wedding and reception settings. The Lakey Ballroom provides 5,100 square feet for traditional or elegant events, can be divided for smaller gatherings, and accommodates up to 280 guests. A tented area can extend the lobby. The 6,400-square-foot Doc & Merle Watson Theatre offers a rustic setting with wooden beams; couples may exchange vows on the porch of the 200-year-old Whitley log cabin or on the Watson Stage. The center provides event staff, linens, audiovisual equipment and decorative items, along with cuisine and bar service options. Its auditorium and ballroom are part of the Walker Center; the theatre is a separate venue also offered for events.
