About Fortland
Fortland is a 16-acre island wedding venue on House Island in Casco Bay, within the grounds of historic Fort Scammel and about a 10-minute boat ride from downtown Portland. The coastal setting includes historic stone architecture, harbor and ocean views, three beaches, and several outdoor and indoor gathering locations. Couples can hold ceremonies by the water or at the Overlook Deck or Old Foundation, host cocktails or dinner in the fort’s Bastion, and use the dock, Community Tent, Parade Ground, or beaches for other parts of the celebration. Overnight stays are available in three yurts and four tent cabins, with accommodation for up to 23 guests; island takeovers can include additional tent sites for up to 50 overnight guests.
