About Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum
In historic Lynchburg, the Anne Spencer House & Garden Museum encompasses the former home of Harlem Renaissance poet Anne Spencer and its restored garden. The garden served as a place of reflection for Spencer and as a gathering place for family, friends, and civic and social clubs. The two-story Queen Anne-style home was designed and built by Edward Spencer in 1903; the historic property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Virginia Historic Landmark.
