About Amelia Island Museum of History
The Amelia Island Museum of History is housed in the former Nassau County Jail at 233 South 3rd Street in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Its nine exhibit areas cover roughly 4,000 years of island history, and a Volunteer History Garden sits behind the building. For private functions, the second-floor Baker Hall (about 1,015 square feet with small kitchen facilities) is set up for presentations (capacity 100), banquets (50 to 75 guests) and receptions (75 to 100 guests). The first-floor museum exhibit space can be rented for receptions only, with a capacity of 100 in a standing-room layout with limited seating. Baker Hall and the museum can be booked together for a combined maximum of 200 guests. Rentals are priced on a four-hour base period that includes set-up and take-down, with an additional hourly charge beyond four hours. Events must end by 10 p.m., excluding clean-up. The host arranges catering, tables, chairs, linens, flowers and musicians, and the museum does not provide event planning. Alcohol may be served only after the museum closes to the public, and the host supplies it without charging guests. Smoking is not permitted on museum grounds. The building is wheelchair accessible, with ADA-accessible restrooms, a wheelchair available at no charge, an accessible ramp at the front entrance and one designated accessible parking space. The second floor is reached by elevator, and the main parking area is on the north side of the building.
