Music IQ
DJ or band, the do-not-play list, who holds the microphone.
Music IQ is for whoever is handling the music. The band-or-DJ fight is the famous one. It is not the one that matters. The cues are.
The 8 questions
- DJ or band? — The fight every couple has at least once. Settle it. Then find out it wasn’t the question.
- The list that matters — The DJ sends two lists: must-play and do-not-play. You fill one in to the brim and leave the other blank.
- The toasts, all together — Four people want to speak. Planners have a number for the whole section. Slide to the minutes.
- Who’s running sound? — Outdoor ceremony, a view, no power outlet. The plan is a phone on a Bluetooth speaker and “we’ll speak up.”
- The little box with a light — The venue has a sound limiter on the wall. Did anyone ask the band what number it’s set to?
- Four hours of band — The band is booked for four hours. So the dance floor is covered for four hours. Right?
- Six minutes and fourteen seconds — Your first-dance song is long, and one verse is not for your grandmother. Playing the whole thing?
- A speech between every course — Three speeches, one after each course, so dinner has some entertainment.
Every Music IQ question is pre-written: Belle asks, you answer, she tells you the truth about the answer you picked, and the careful version waits on Boards. Your ladder here is your own; a subject becomes its own IQ at 3 questions.
