Day-of IQ

The run of show, the weather, who takes the card box home.

Day-of IQ is for whoever is running the day. Not the couple; the couple is busy getting married. Someone with a clipboard and a phone, and these are the things they will wish they had known at 11:40pm.

The 11 questions

  • My sister will run the day — She’s calm in a crisis. She already said yes. You’re skipping the coordinator.
  • Thunder at cocktail hour — Everyone’s inside. Someone with a drink wants to go back out. Slide to when they may.
  • Who takes the card box? — It’s 11:40pm. Cards, gifts, leftover cake, your grandmother’s knife.
  • Rounding up the family — “We’ll just grab everyone when it’s time.” Uncle Ray is at the bar.
  • Six heads, one chair — Six people getting hair done, one stylist, a four o’clock ceremony. Slide to the minutes per head.
  • The earlier the better — The florist asks when they can start. The tables aren’t set, the linens come at two, and the arbor is a big install.
  • It’ll do a few runs — One shuttle, a hundred and fifty guests, the hotel twenty-five minutes away.
  • The sparkler exit — A hundred and twenty guests in two lines, thirty-six-inch sparklers, a photographer who needs you to walk slowly. Slide to the minutes.
  • Three-fifty. Which hand? — The ceremony is at four. Your engagement ring is sitting exactly where the band goes in ten minutes.
  • Eight hours, starting at ten — The coordinator’s package is eight hours. They arrive at ten for setup. Do the math before they do.
  • The two-hour gap — Ceremony done at two, reception at four-thirty. Out-of-town guests, good clothes, no plan.

Every Day-of IQ question is pre-written: Belle asks, you answer, she tells you the truth about the answer you picked, and the careful version waits on Boards. Your ladder here is your own; a subject becomes its own IQ at 3 questions.
